The Arundell Arms is a fisherman's hotel, wonderfully situated west of Dartmoor in a valley of five rivers, the Tamar and its tributaries, on which we have 20 miles of our own fishing on individual beats for wild brown trout, sea-trout and salmon. We also have our own 3-acre lake stocked with brown and rainbow trout up to 8lbs.
We have two full-time instructors, David Pilkington and Tim Smith. They are both Salmon and Trout Association Instructors (S.T.A.N.I.C.) and fully qualified members of the Advanced Association of Professional Game Angling Instructors (A.A.P.G.A.I.). Between them they have taught many thousands of people to fish.
We run a full range of residential courses, from beginners to advanced, and most of the time, when you are not learning how to cast, you will be fishing on our very beautiful moorland-fed rivers or on our own lake. We also give individual tuition in all aspects of game fishing including Spey casting.
The hotel has been owned and run since 1961 by Anne Voss-Bark, herself a fisherman. It is AA 3 star,
internationally famed, and has a superb restaurant. There is plenty for non-fishing companions to do, moorland walks and rides, good golf courses nearby and wonderful scenery.
The Arundell Arms has been teaching fly fishing for over 60 years.
Course fee includes VAT and where relevant, tackle and wader hire. It does not include the Environment
Agency rod licence, which can be purchased from the hotel. For accommodation and meal charges,
please see hotel tariff.
